Clay Mythological Animals from The Island Residential Home

Hello everyone, I hope you've had a great Easter! I've recently been sent a lovely photo of some clay mythological animals from one of my Roman workshops that the residents have painted at The Island Residential Home. Don't they look great!? The models are from left to right; a unicorn, a 3-headed Cerberus dog, a cat, another 3 headed Cerberus dog and another cat. #claycraft #claymyth #CareHomesKent #carehome #KentHistoryWorkshops #history4homes #TheIslandResidentialHome

    50,000,000 year old shark teeth

I found these on the seashore in North Kent. They're 50,000,000 year old shark teeth from the London clay, they date from the early Eocene and Thanetian period. The shark that they originally came from all those years ago is now an exctinct species. These teeth are at least ten times older than the earliest humans. #fossils #sharkteeth #sheppey #history4homes #KentHistoryWorkshops

Hartlip Endowed C of E Primary Stone Age Workshop

Trixie and I had a wonderful time at Hartlip Endowed C of E Primary School, the children there were learning about the Stone Age and enjoyed dressing up in Ice Age clothing. They also had their own impressive collection of pottery, Stone Age tools and their own paper mache caves. I was extremely pleased when the children told me how much fun they had doing the Stone Age workshop, being able to learn something new and enjoy yourself at the same time is at the very heart of my

    Brunswick House Stone Age Workshop

On Tuesday Trixie and I paid a visit to Brunswick House Primary School in Maidstone to teach the children there about the Stone Age. All the pupils were very excited to see Trixie and Trixie had loads of fun dressing up in Stone Age clothes. After the workshop the pupils created some Ice Age animals out of clay and learned about the Killer Pig, also known as Entelodont, from North America. You can learn more about these creatures from the Prehistoric Predators show on Youtube

Trixie goes to Brunswick House and I visit Highland Care Home!

Hello everybody! A quick update just to tell everyone the news in the New Year. I have presented my first Roman Britain workshop at Highland House Care Home using my new Roman armour and mannequin. The residents were very polite and showed a great interest in all the artefacts and replicas. Many of them really enjoyed trying on the Roman helmet too. I have also created three new clay models for the Roman and Greek craft workshop (pictures to follow shortly). On Tuesday the 24

Newsletter from Senacre Wood Primary School

The Dinosaurs & Fossils Workshop has been mentioned in the Newsletter from Senacre Wood Primary School: On Monday Morning, children in Rowan class took a step back in time! Throughout the morning Mr Aers, Dinosaur Expert, showed the children many examples of his fascinating fossil collection. The children learnt all about how fossils are formed and thought about how life on planet evolved throughout the ages. The fossils were as varied as whole trilobite fossils to fossilised

    Chaucer House Care Home 12/07/2016

I had a very pleasant time at Chaucer House Care Home in Canterbury today, Charlotte O'Mally and the care home staff were very supportive of their residents and helped to show everyone the fossils. Some of the resident's family who were visiting also seemed very interested in the presentation and some very good clay dinosaurs were made. The best part was when one of the care home staff pretended that an old chicken bone was a real fossil! I hope to visit the care home again s
